Trump Invites Relatives of Shot Military Soldiers to the White House

Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told the press. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support law enforcement in Washington DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the media. “She was caring, caring and always eager to help others.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Steps and Government Revisions

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.

The incident prompted the government to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop granting visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she aimed to meet with the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” he addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
