The Two Fatalities Named in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who died in the weekend's violent attack at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their killer persisted following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences on social media, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were hurt in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said late Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a search at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.
