The Red Devils Set to Sign Germany Forward Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants

Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from Bayern Munich.

A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side

Schüller, who has six months left on her deal, has been a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a major signing for the WSL team.

Her exit from Munich has been anticipated since she was seen fighting back tears while applauding the club's supporters following a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

It was reported in late December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading forwards. According to multiple sources, all the paperwork for the move have now been completed.

Reliable Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack

The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a significant uplift to the team's attacking options. She has been highly consistent in front of goal in the Bundesliga.

  • Over seven straight seasons, including the last term, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
  • She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Building Steam at Old Trafford

The acquisition of Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when the club seem to be building momentum.

Recent performances include securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Off the pitch, the mid-season window has brought further business:

  1. The acquisition of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
  2. The new deal for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.

On the midfielder's new deal, a senior figure commented: “She has become a critical component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and skill allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”

Lundkvist, who has joined from a club in the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
