Citizens have come together across the country to commemorate the second anniversary since the Hamas-initiated assault on that fateful day in October 2023, as talks proceeded in Egypt over an end to the war in Gaza.
The attack resulted in over 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others taken back to Gaza as captives. It was the single deadliest day for Jews since the World War II.
Israel answered by initiating a military offensive in Gaza which has killed in excess of 67,000 people, based on figures from the area's Hamas-run health ministry. Its statistics are seen as accurate by the United Nations and other international bodies.
"Our bloodthirsty opponents have struck forcefully, but they have not overcome us," Benjamin Netanyahu added on that day.
He also vowed to "achieve all the objectives of the war: the release of all the kidnapped, the elimination of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will never again pose a danger to Israel".

Hours earlier, a minute's silence was held around the country.
At the same time, Israeli and Hamas representatives convened in the Egyptian coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for a follow-up session of third-party negotiations to review the conditions of the proposal.
A senior Palestinian official knowledgeable about the discussions revealed that an late session of negotiations commenced at evening in Egypt.
The representative explained the earlier meeting concluded without tangible results, because of differences over the suggested Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas wants to guarantee Israel does not recommence hostilities after the first phase of the agreement.
He noted that the discussions are "tough and have still not produce any real breakthrough," but mentioned that intermediaries are striving to reduce the differences between the conflicting groups.
In Tel Aviv's public square previously, young Hagar - whose brother endured the incident on the gathering, where many attendees were lost their lives and many more were abducted by Hamas militants - explained: "Nowhere seems like home now and until all the hostages are released no one will be secure."
"Once we see all home once more, we can relax again. Then we can begin to recover," she concluded.
In front of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home in the capital, people congregated to demonstrate their backing for the loved ones of the hostages. Israel states nearly fifty remain in captivity in Gaza, twenty of whom are considered to be surviving.
Demonstrator Atalia Regev explained: "We must do any agreement needed for the captives to return. But we sincerely need guarantees that we will be secure."
Surveys now frequently demonstrate that approximately the majority of the population desire the hostilities to finish in exchange for the liberation of the hostages.
At the location of Nova festival, grieving people assembled to honor the dead.
From there, the noise of military attacks and shelling could be noticed just a short distance away in Gaza, where observers indicated the intense Israeli shelling persisted.

"As the evening comes, the fear appears with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a local woman, whose teenage son was lost his life by an Israeli air strike earlier, explained.
"My family are terrified of the air strikes. During nighttime we are resting together, embracing, notably my little child who puts his face on me the entire evening."
"Continuously we look at the reports to see developments. And I'm worried that this halt will not be completed and that the war will resume to us."
